Northrop Grumman will work with the U.S. Air Force and start production four RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aircraft systems under a foreign military sale contract with the South Korean air force.
“[It is] the first time a Global Hawk has been sold to an allied nation in the Asia-Pacific region under the foreign military sales process,” Mary Petryszyn, international vice president for Northrop’s aerospace systems business, said Monday.
According to Northrop, the sale also includes two ground stations and supporting equipment that will work to support South Korea’s wide-area intelligence-gathering missions.
The company said it will begin delivery of the systems in 2018.
