IBMÂ has unveiled its new cloud-based analytics offering for the energy and utility sector that works to facilitate situational awareness and data-driven decision-making for managing the energy generation-to-distribution process.
The company said Tuesday the IBM Insights Foundation for Energy platform combines data integration, visualization and analytics software to deliver insights on asset performance.
“Utilities need flexible and comprehensive tools to help simplify the complexity, exploit the volumes of data and create a profound shift in how they operate day-to-day,” said Brad Gammons, IBM general manager for the energy and utilities industry.
IBM noted that leveraging data helps guide energy and utility companies in performing predictive maintenance, health monitoring, risk assessment and other asset management activities.
The company has previously worked with National Grid to use analytics in managing the energy transmission network of England and Wales.
