Stu Fleagle, vice president of Carpathia‘s government solutions business, believes that hybrid and public cloud, automated compliance, privacy and data-driven decision-making will drive government technology investments in 2015.
Fleagle said in a guest post published Monday on Federal News Radio that these trends will facilitate a transformation among government agencies as they seek to keep pace with changing technologies.
Agencies are beginning to leverage best practices from previous hybrid cloud deployments and clearer definitions from the National Institute of Standards and Technology to bolster their own hybrid cloud plans, he wrote.
As for public cloud, Fleagle noted that the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program’s vetted listing of authorized providers and new security controls from the Defense Information Systems Agency have driven agencies to move workloads and data to the cloud.
Automation tools will also allow agencies to more quickly navigate through audit and security requirements and monitor compliance, while data management tools will help them generate insights to guide decision-making.
Fleagle added that agencies will also put privacy as a top concern as they move more data to cloud.
