CGI Federal has begun construction of a $13.1 million onshore information technology services delivery center in Lafayette, Louisiana.
CGI Federal President James Peake, an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 list for 2015, said Tuesday the company intends to advance cloud computing, cybersecurity, big data and data visualization technologies through the research and technology lab.
The 50,000-square-foot facility is expected to open up to 400 new IT jobs in southwest Louisiana, according to CGI.
As a tenant of the University of Louisiana’s research park at Lafayette, the center will also house a state-funded, $4.5 million higher education project of the university’s School of Computing and Informatics for 10 years.
Construction is scheduled to complete by the end of 2015.
