The European Space Agency has incorporated Red Hat’s Linux platform into the agency’s private cloud infrastructure that is intended to provide information technology services to multiple users.
The ESA cloud infrastructure is developed based on VCE systems and a blade x86 architecture, Red Hat said Tuesday.
Gianni Anguilletti, Red Hat’s country manager in Italy, said the inclusion of Linux into ESA’s cloud highlights that the company’s services “can be a cornerstone of the most critical infrastructures of the market.â€
The space agency collaborated with Red Hat Consulting to implement the Red Hat operating system in ESA cloud.
Orange Business Services manages the cloud infrastructure, which hosts software development and testing environments, satellite data reprocessing environments, document management systems and corporate IT services.
