Deltek has projected data management issues would prompt federal agencies to invest in sensor-enabled technologies for analyzing and transmitting information, the Washington Post reported Sunday.
Deniece Peterson, director of federal industry analysis at Deltek, said she forecasts agencies to adopt sensor products for the Internet of Things and cyber-physical and software-based infrastructure.
“The adoption of these emerging technologies could depend not only on agencies’ budgets, policy and workforce expertise, but also on contractors’ willingness and capacity to educate them on the benefits and risks,” Peterson stated.
She also noted that predictive analytics is a relatively mature technology and poised to be a growth area in the federal information technology market over the next few years.
A Deltek study found that federal spending on predictive analytics tools increased approximately 70 percent in fiscal 2014, according to Peterson.
