IBM has landed a five-year contract to help Fire & Rescue New South Wales implement a cloud computing infrastructure intended to consolidate the emergency services agency’s mission-critical workloads.
The company said Tuesday it will design, build and operate an information technology-as-a-service platform for FRNSW, as well as migrate agency systems and applications to IBM Cloud.
FRNSW seeks to deploy its geospatial information, SAP enterprise resource planning system and Oracle real application clusters platform on IBM’s cloud infrastructure.
Mark Brewer, general manager of global technology services for IBM Australia and New Zealand, said the business has supported NSW government agencies for more than two decades.
The agency’s IBM-hosted cloud will be built upon the NSW Government Data Centre and be designed to offer a consumption-based pricing model, according to the company.
IBM will design the technology for FRNSW users to access a single dashboard for managing workloads and the company’s backup and archiving application.
