An SRA International and SAP NS2 alliance helped the U.S. Department of Agriculture build an integrated platform for managing the agency’s local and oversees food and nutrition programs.
USDA’s Web Based Supply Chain Management system is based on SAP technology and works to help agency users order, purchase and track commodities for school lunch initiatives and food banks, SRA said Tuesday.
The two companies also worked with the General Services Administration and the National Information Technology Center to accomplish the USDA’s WBSCM project.
“SRA is pleased to lend our significant software systems and engineering experience to help the USDA meet its challenge to deliver essential food aid to those in need both domestically and internationally,” said Gil Dussek, vice president at SRA’s health and civil group.
The WBSCM system is also intended to cut transportation costs at the department by as much 11 percent.
