Government business intelligence company Onvia has published a report that studies the fiscal year end dates of more than 80,000 government agencies and their impact on contractors.
The company said Wednesday it sought to help vendors focused on state, local and education markets better plan their purchasing strategies based on the spending cycle analysis report.
It noted that most fiscal schedules of SLED agencies (91.6%) are not aligned with those of federal agencies, which end on September 30th of each year.
State and school fiscal year end dates usually fall in June, while those for cities, counties and districts predominantly end in December or June, the report found.
“While there can be federal funding impacts on state and local contracting, SLED-focused vendors may be better served by understanding the specific spending cycles of their target agencies,” Lyndon Dacuan, content marketer at Onvia, posted on the company blog.
