Scott Ackerman, vice president of civilian programs and technology partnerships at Knowledge Consulting Group, says organizations are adopting an intelligence-driven approach to the security of devices amid the rise of Internet of Things.
Ackerman wrote Friday that IoT is causing enterprises to expand the scope of security in a growing ecosystem of “mobile devices and applications that must connect to the network.”
“Patching and targeted vulnerability remediation is being complemented with a focus on analyzing the vast amounts of data that is ingested by cyber tools and technologies,” he wrote.
Ackerman said the transition to intelligence-based approach also ushers in the need for new tools to detect and mitigate vulnerabilities at the data and application levels.
He added that these tools will work to map data traffic with a focus on individual events.
Ackerman also said the IoT challenge will result in the “growth of the market segment and the availability of new and emerging tools and technologies.”
