BAE Systems‘ applied intelligence division has developed an offering to protect industrial systems and critical national infrastructure, particularly in the energy and utilities sector, from cyberattacks and other security concerns.
The company said Wednesday that IndustrialProtect works to provide a network segmentation gateway to secure the link supporting data transmission between operational technology and corporate IT networks.
“Since we have seen that threats can come from both internal and external sources, it is crucial that systems are protected from access, manipulation and control by those intending to carry out harm through disruption or sabotage,” said Jim Anderson, president of the Americas at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence.
He added that the hardware-based solution manages operational risk by integrating security capabilities into one device to facilitate automation, securing the exchange of information between operations and IT and monitoring vendor access to the network.
BAE Systems Applied Intelligence designed IndustrialProtect to focus on the users, actions and content of the link between IT and operations systems, the company said.
