General Dynamics‘ business arm in Canada has opened a new EDGE facility in Nova Scotia to facilitate further collaboration between academia, government and naval technology makers as they work with Canada’s navy.
The Undersea Warfare EDGE Innovation Center is the 17th facility in the global EDGE Innovation Network and will primarily focus on defense and security functions for the Canadian Surface Combatant and undersea warfare operations, the company said Monday.
David Ibbetson, vice president of General Dynamics C4 Systems International, said the company aims to help small businesses create new technologies through the new center.
The new facility is located within its 46,000-square-foot complex in Nova Scotia near Canadian military bases and will house the development of sensor, signal processing and display and automatic threat detection and classification technologies as well as undersea warfare training systems.
