Iridium Communications has implemented the billing and revenue management offering from Oracle‘s communications arm to support the expansion of Iridium’s service portfolio for after the launch of the Iridium NEXT constellation.
The companies said Thursday Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management is expected to standardize and streamline Iridium’s billing, invoicing and revenue life-cycle management processes.
“Our legacy billing systems had grown organically with the company and as such, their functionality and flexibility was limited,” said Jose Varela, vice president for billing, OSS and IT at Iridium Satellite.
“This new system provides a host of new features and will enable us to quickly support all the new services and products we have planned, as well as those we have yet to imagine, standardizing the process and reducing our time to market,” he added.
Varela added the company wants to unify the interface for all customer services into a single platform, compared to services being added separately into the legacy system.
