IBM is celebrating a decade in Costa Rica Wednesday with the opening of a new IT Security Operations Center.
The goal of the new center is to address the growing security needs of clients in the area, IBM said.
The SOC, aiming to be open 24/7, will allow IBM to offer services such as cloud, business analytics, project management, human resources, financial services and more.
“Companies like IBM clearly demonstrate the evolution that the services industry is undergoing in Costa Rica as companies here move forward to manage more complex and sophisticated processes,†said the Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora.
The company has created new jobs during its 10 years in Costa Rica, while also introducing several educational initiatives that provide student scholarships through a program sponsored by the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, IBM said.
â€Multinational companies such as IBM are allowing the country to improve its economy. The presence of these companies also extends benefits to education by promoting joint programs with universities and deepening the knowledge of human talent that exists here in Costa Rica in increasingly specialized fields,” said Gabriela Llobet, Director General of CINDE.
Through the Costa Rican facility and its 10 SOCs located in the United States, Poland, Japan, Brazil, Belgium, India and Australia, IBM aims to manage and monitor security events every day for their clients.
