Lockheed Martin has test-fired a Javelin missile from its turret during a demonstration at the Cranfield Ordnance Test and Evaluation Center in England.
The company’s UK and U.S. teams worked together for nine months produce the turret and then fire both a 30-milimeter cannon and a Javelin missile, Lockheed Martin said Thursday.
Alan Lines, vice president and managing director of Lockheed Martin UK, said the teams developed the turret based on other ground vehicles programs.
“This firing is the culmination of a tremendous amount of cooperation and hard work between the U.K. and U.S. teams,” added Lines.
Javelin Joint Venture, a partnership between Raytheon and Lockheed, developed the Javelin missile.
