BAE Systems and Airbus’ defense and space business have forged an alliance to develop and sell new geospatial intelligence offerings to U.S. government, commercial and international clients.
The team will use Airbus Defense and Space’s TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X radar satellite data to build the synthetic aperture radar products, BAE Systems said Tuesday.
“The products we are teaming to develop represent a major leap forward in SAR-based products and services that enhance various sophisticated applications,†said DeEtte Gray, president of BAE Systems’ intelligence and security sector.
BAE Systems will combine its GEOINT exploitation and analytics systems with Airbus’ radar data products in order to further the development of geospatial technologies.
Airbus’ TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X satellites are designed to gather data for various applications such as maritime monitoring, digital elevation modeling and ground control point extractions.
