URS Corp. will work with We Energies to convert Milwaukee-based Valley Power Plant into a natural gas production facility from a coal plant.
URS said Monday that the team will replace the plant’s coal-burning equipment with natural-gas piping and burners, as well asw modify combustion controls and other auxiliary equipment and plant controls.
Art Lembo, general manager for URS’ power group, said the has been working with We Energies on environmental projects such as for air quality control since 2000.
The Valley Power Plant contains two 140-megawatt generating units and URS expects to complete the project by late 2015 or early 2016.
