Microsoft has entered into a patent licensing agreement with Motorola Solutions that provides global coverage for the latter’s devices that run on Android or Chrome operating systems.
The agreement is part of Microsoft’s intellectual property licensing program that includes patent licensing for Android device-makers such as Samsung, Acer and Motorola Mobility, Microsoft said Monday.
“Microsoft and Motorola Solutions share a respect for intellectual property and a commitment to fair and reasonable patent licensing programs,” said Nick Psyhogeos, general manager and associate general counsel for IP licensing at Microsoft’s innovation and intellectual property group.
“We are pleased to have agreed upon a solution that allows our customers to purchase Android products from Motorola Solutions with confidence,” said Joe White, vice president for enterprise mobile computing at Motorola.
