Sterling Global Operations is seeking to grow its oil and gas, mine clearing and other work in Kurdistan and Iraq by expanding its Kurdish operations center and constructing a regional logistics hub.
The new 200,000 sq ft logistics hub near Erbil, capital of the Kurdish region, will be used for equipment storage, employee training and vehicle maintenance services, the stability operations company said Wednesday.
According to Alan Weakley, SGO president and chief operating officer, the projects “ensure we have the administrative and logistical infrastructure in place to react quickly and effectively to meet the requirements – which are sometimes fast-developing – of our government and private sector clients.”
“In the last year SGO has had 13 contracts for humanitarian demining work in Kurdistan as well as with international oil and gas companies to ensure prospective exploration areas were cleared of unexploded ordnance,” he said.
Both the operations and regional logistics facilities will open on March 27.
