FireEye has opened a Dresden, Germany-based research and development center, where the company will work with European educational institutions on security research, FireEye said Tuesday.
David DeWalt, FireEye chairman and CEO, said the European research center is part of a company effort to help customers combat threats.
The FireEye European, Singapore and Bangalore R&D teams will collaborate with local universities to assess the firm’s threat defense technology and study threat intelligence.
Dr. rer. Nat Hendrik Tews, software development engineer at FireEye, will lead the Dresden team to produce statistical data of product and research outcomes for clients.
The new Dresden center is scheduled to open on Thursday and a team of 15 formal methods researchers will work to test the FireEye endpoint security and provide statistical evidence of threat detection.
The center has partnered with Technische Universität Dresden and other European universities to recruit additional security talents.
