Unisys and Chinese information technology firm TravelSky will collaborate to update a Unisys-made logistics management system for customers in the air cargo industry.
LMS Next Generation will be built to feature mobile and proactive monitoring tools and a Java-based engine for air freight carriers to manage business process rules, Unisys said Monday.
TravelSky has selected Unisys’ LMS plaform as the basis of a managed logistics service offering for Chinese airlines.
Christopher Shawdon, vice president of logistics solutions at Unisys, said the company intends to develop a pricing model based on data, service or route.
Unisys says it will offer the LMS NG product via software as a service or licensing deals.
International carriers use Unisys logistics management technology through partnerships with the Unisys Cargo User Group.
Unisys, UCUG and the International Air Transport Association have collaborated on several industry programs, including e-Freight and XML messaging projects.
