A team of Aerojet Rocketdyne employees, U.S. Air Force service members and Lawrence Livermore National Labs employees have won a defense industry award from the Precision Strike Association.
The PSA’s William J. Perry Award recognized the team’s work on the BLU-129/B Precision Lethality MK-82 munition for the Air Force, the GenCorp subsidiary announced Tuesday.
The BLU-129/B munition is a carbon-fiber composite body air-to-ground weapon built to allow very little collateral damage.
“Protecting and empowering our troops is an important part of what we do every day, and we’re proud of the success of our missile defense products,” said Aerojet Rocketdyne President Warren M. Boley, Jr.
The Aerojet team was presented with the award, which honors former Defense Secretary William J. Perry, during the 2014 Precision Strike Annual Review in Springfield, Va.
