World Wide Technology Inc. has deployed its disaster recovery system that consolidates data and voice systems at the Kansas City International Airport’s aviation department.
Under the partnership, WWT deployed its Vblock Systems Infrastructure Platform to provide KCI with consolidated and virtualized systems, WWT announced.
The Vblock system was used to establish a disaster recovery offering that is audit-compliant with the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
David Jacobus, KCI manager for information technology, said that although they initially thought that Vblock would be “too elaborate,” the airport was able to use it more extensively, including upgrading its phone systems.
“WWT emphasized that this would be a turnkey solution, but I don’t think we really believed it until the Vblock showed up on our doorstep racked, stacked, pre-tested and pre-configured. We just plugged it in, and at the end of the project, we didn’t have a hallway full of a thousand boxes or parts and pieces that didn’t fit,” Jacobus added.
