Raytheon‘s tactical control system was designed to operate drones in all branches of the U.S. military and the TCS is now receiving a software upgrade, according to a Military Aerospace article.
John Keller writes that Raytheon Technical Services is poised to switch the software on the control system from Solaris to Linux software as well as upgrade the system with universal UAV control qualities.
According to the article, the upcoming contract will also include the integration of modern intuitive controls, full-motion video capability upgrades, automation of testing procedures and the upgrade of software operating in the field.
Raytheon is the expected recipient of the contract but the work is still open to other firms until Feb. 19.
