MITRE Corp. and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore have agreed to form an air traffic management research and development center in the country, Channel News Asia reported Thursday.
The MITRE Asia Pacific in Singapore will work to conduct air traffic management analyses worth $100 million in the next decade, according to the report.
Lillian Ryals, senior vice president at MITRE, told the publication that the partnership aims to help CAAS further its air traffic management initiative in the Asia Pacific region.
The two organizations intend for MAPS to serve as a development hub for new air traffic systems that are meant to expand airspace capacity and enhance operational safety, the report says.
The R&D center is scheduled to start operations in the second half of 2014, reports Channel News Asia.
