IBMÂ has moved to expand its cloud-based offerings by adding a data virtualization service from data management company Actifio in an effort to help clients handle information.
Actifio’s Virtual Data Pipeline technology is integrated into IBM’s SmartCloud Data Virtualization platform for users to separate application data from physical infrastructures, IBM said Feb. 4.
Laurence Guihard-Joly, general manager for IBM’s business continuity and resiliency services, said the data virtualization platform is intended to help customers turn data into business assets and help systems recover from disruptions.
The company intends for customers restore production storage capacity and servers through the IBM SmartCloud Data Virtualization platform.
IBM also aims for clients to perform test failovers, log changes during actual outages and coordinate changes with the production system on fallback operation.
