Dell’s healthcare and life sciences unit has partnered with the Cleveland Clinic to deliver electronic health record services to health institutions nationwide, based on the clinic’s Epic Systems-developed EHR, Modern Healthcare reported Monday.
Joseph Conn writes the EHR system can either be installed and run on-site or remotely hosted and delivered by Dell as software-as-a-service.
According to C. Martin Harris, Cleveland Clinic’s CIO, the clinic’s MyPractice Healthcare Solutions has been deploying EHR to approximately 400 medical service providers in the Cleveland area for more than three years.
The partnership is expected to bring these services across the country, with Dell providing the technology infrastructure to support EHR while the clinic installs the system for customers.
Conn reports the collaborators are targeting medical practices that do not yet use EHR or are planning to switch services, as federal data indicate most already have an existing EHR system.
