Cisco and AGT International have created a smart city global strategic alliance that applies the concept of the Internet of Everything in urban management and security, using technology to detect and resolve incidents.
Cisco said Wednesday, a combination of its video management technology and AGT’s platform of sensors and data analytics is expected to provide a smart solution that addresses day-to-day needs in the city, such as transportation, infrastructure and personal safety.
“Cities are growing at the rate of 10,000 people per hour. But through the Internet of Everything and advanced analytics, we can transform that challenge into an opportunity to revolutionize urban living,†said Wim Elfrink, executive vice president for industry solutions and chief globalization officer at Cisco.
AGT’s platform will use Cisco unified computing system to distinguish between real incidents and false alerts, leading to lower operational costs, the press release said.
The offering is supposed to be available in mid-2014 and will primarily focus on traffic management and urban safety.
A future cloud-based version will address management of infrastructure, such as airports and railways.
