Brent Shafer has been tapped to serve as the next chief executive officer of Philips North America where he will be responsible for the company’s operations in the healthcare, consumer lifestyle and lighting markets.
Shafer succeeds Greg Sebasky who retired Feb. 3 and will report directly to Frans van Houten, Royal Philips CEO, the company announced Tuesday.
“Given the size and the dynamics of the North American market and the opportunities that we see, we are taking decisive actions to boost new business development and grow faster than the market,†said van Houten.
“In Brent we have the right leader to do just that as he brings a strong track record, both within Philips and outside of the company, of building successful businesses based on entrepreneurship and meaningful innovations,” he added.
Philips North America has 57 major facilities in 26 states and three Canadian provinces.
Shafer will “closely work” with the teams and leaders of each market segment.
