northrop-Grumman_BLUETwenty-six high school teams and two middle school teams from 14 U.S. states and one Canadian province will participate in the March 28 national finals of the CyberPatriot VI competition, sponsored by Northrop Grumman.

This year’s finals will be the first time in the competition’s six-year history that middle school teams were included and they will compete in the newly-established middle school division, Northrop announced Tuesday.

The Northrop Grumman Foundation is in its fourth year as presenting sponsor of CyberPatriot.

“Since we first signed on as presenting sponsor, CyberPatriot participation has grown by more than 130 percent, a statistic that clearly demonstrates how STEM competitions, like CyberPatriot, provide an exciting pathway for students to follow in preparation for a career in this field,” said Sandra Evers-Manly, Northrop Grumman Foundation president.

Northrop awards the winners of the competition with annual scholarship funds and contributes employee volunteers for a whole-year mentoring program.

All teams competing in the finals will receive all-expenses-paid trip to the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center at National Harbor, Md. for face-to-face virtual networks defense exercises.
