Verizon Terremark is adding 4 megawatts of power capacity in its Santa Clara, Calif. data center by installing Active Power electrical infrastructure containers in the roof, Data Center Dynamics reported Friday.
Yevgeniy Sverdlik writes that the PowerHouse containers are intended to grow capacity without expanding the building and are built with uninterruptible power supply systems, switchgear and monitoring and control equipment.
Terramark deployed four PowerHouse units in the center, according to the report.
“PowerHouse modular units are energy and space efficient, which give us flexibility to manage power consumption to best serve the needs of our clients and limit energy and equipment waste,†said Ben Stewart, Verizon senior vice president of facility engineering, according to the report.
