SAP AG and Atos are collaborating with the European Union to develop standards for cloud services in an effort to help protect personal data of citizens, Bloomberg reported Monday.
Cornelius Rahn writes the two companies and European governments will work on guidelines for screening Web programs and data storage technologies.
Jim Hagemann Snabe, SAP co-CEO, said the collaboration aims to help authorities identify services that are safe from espionage, according to the report.
“We’re working with the EU Commission, but also the United States and other countries to try and define what we believe are the principals for a trusted cloud,†Snabe added.
The EU intends for those standards to streamline regulations on cloud services across various countries, Bloomberg reports.
