Rockwell Collins has received approval from the National Security Agency for a data link system designed to help soldiers transmit radio communications in the battlefield.
NSA certified Rockwell Collins’ TacNet platform to manage and secure network-centric communications up to the Top Secret classification level, the company said Thursday.
Mike Jones, vice president and general manager of communication and navigation products at Rockwell Collins, said the system is built to provide connectivity during tactical missions through Link 16 terminals.
TacNet works to resist jamming, operate without fans and manage command and control data in real-time.
Rockwell Collins designed the radio link to be compatible with unmanned aerial systems, forward air controllers, mobile ground stations, rotary wing aircraft and small maritime platforms.
