Motorola Solutions Inc. has entered into an agreement with the city of Charlotte, N.C., to help maintain the software and hardware for the city’s network for first responders.
Under the agreement, Motorola will provide its Migration Assurance Program for future upgrades to the city’s Radio Advanced Digital Interoperable ASTRO P25 regional network, the company announced Thursday.
The RADIO ASTRO P25 network supports more than 1,700 sworn officers and 500 non-sworn employees of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The department services more than 800,000 city and county residents.
“The flexibility of Motorola Solutions’ Migration Assurance Program allows us to concentrate resources on our overall mission of protecting our residents while our network remains at peak performance,” said Chuck Robinson, City of Charlotte’s director of shared services.
“The service is an efficient and cost-effective way to meet our ongoing technology needs with a predictable funding structure that eliminates surprises.”
