A Raytheon Technologies business has received a $15.5 million contract from the U.S. Air Force Lifecycle Management Center to provide a modified version of the company’s high-energy laser weapon system. Raytheon Intelligence and Space said Wednesday it secured the award through the System of Systems Consortium and will supply HELWS to AFLCMC, which will then evaluate the weapon's potential to help air bases target threats such as unmanned aerial vehicles.

The U.S. Navy tasked DCS to develop air traffic control and landing systems for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division's Webster Outlying Field organization as part of a five-year, $29 million contract. The company said Wednesday it started working with WOLF personnel under the Technical, Engineering Products and Software Services contract in December and the team will develop, integrate, test, manage and maintain air traffic control systems over the duration of the award.

Raytheon Technologies used digital engineering methods to accelerate the development of the U.S. Air Force's next fighter jet that would succeed F-35 and F-22 aircraft. The company said Jan. 22 its intelligence and space business allowed the aircraft – currently still concealed from the public – to perform a maiden flight with the help of digital engineering. USAF announced the maiden flight's completion in September 2020.

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $3.6 billion indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Air Force to continue Battlefield Airborne Communications Node operations, sustainment and support. “We are honored to work with the Air Force to continue to bring the critical gateway communications capabilities of the BACN program to U.S. warfighters operating around the world,” said Ben Davies, vice president and general manager of networked information solutions division at Northrop.
