Rocket Lab on Monday launched into orbit six spacecraft for its government and commercial clients as part of the 19th mission of its Electron rocket. The Electron rocket for the They Go Up So Fast mission lifted off from a launch complex in New Zealand to field the six customer payloads, including a technology demonstrator for the U.S. Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command and a CubeSat for Care Weather Technologies.

Federated Wireless has partnered with Amazon Web Services, Cisco, Perspecta Labs, Vectrus, JMA and Capstone Partners to deploy a Citizens Broadband Radio Service-enabled private 5G wireless network for the Department of Defense. The prototype deployment is part of a multiyear initiative that seeks to modernize Marine Corps Logistics Command’s warehouse operations in Albany, Georgia, through the creation of a reference design for a 5G smart warehouse.

The Federal Aviation Administration has given Rocket Lab permission to launch small satellites for government customers from a company-operated facility at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport on Wallops Island, Virginia. Rocket Lab said Tuesday it can use the Electron rocket to perform multiple smallsat missions  from  Launch Complex 2 with the FAA-issued operator license with five-year validity.

Rocket Lab has received Category 1 certification from NASA for its Electron launch vehicle. The certification was awarded after Rocket Lab’s Electron vehicle delivered 13 NASA CubeSats to orbit in December 2018 as part of the ELaNa-19 mission and following the completion of a review of the company’s rocket production processes and facilities in 2019, the company said Tuesday.
