The U.S. Air Force is partnering with telecommunications companies such as Verizon and AT&T to advance the adoption of the 5G wireless network technology to increase bandwidth and network speed in support of missions, the Air Force Magazine reported.

IBM and AT&T announced a multi-year strategic alliance between the companies on Tuesday. AT&T Communications will use IBM’s expertise to modernize AT&T Business Solutions' internal software applications, enabling migrations to the IBM Cloud through the partnership.

AT&T has partnered with the government of San José in California to field the FirstNet communications service for first responders, equip the service to various agencies including the police, emergency, environmental services and fire departments as part of San José’s Emergency Action Plan initiative.

AT&T and the International Association of Fire Fighters have formed an alliance to inform paramedics and firefighters about the FirstNet national public safety broadband network and its role in facilitating communications during emergency response efforts.

A survey commissioned by AT&T as part of the company’s Climate Resiliency Project says 59 percent of U.S. business leaders consider their firms as “climate resilient.” Market research firm Morning Consult polled more than 600 business executives between April 15 and April 22 and found that 71 percent of respondents said they have not yet evaluated the risks of climate change to their companies, AT&T said Monday.

AT&T and Mutualink have entered into an agreement to facilitate communications interoperability for first responders and other public safety personnel. AT&T said Thursday it will add Mutualink’s Interoperable Response and Preparedness Platform to the FirstNet public safety broadband network under the partnership to help users accelerate sharing of data, voice and video across systems.

The San Jose, Calif., government has partnered with AT&T to implement an internet-of-things technology throughout the city’s public areas.

Sonim Technologies has launched a ruggedized flip phone for use with the AT&T network and the FirstNet public safety network. The XP3 phone is designed to provide communications for public safety and other activities that take place in extreme environments, Sonim said Friday.
