Sixty-four companies hold prime positions on the small business portion of the Department of Homeland Security‘s $22 billion information technology contract vehicle, Federal Times reported Wednesday.
Christy O’Farrell writes Dan Clever, deputy chief procurement officer at DHS, said the department included EAGLE II tracks for smaller companies in response to the contractors’ needs.
“That gives us the ability to reach down to those small businesses and afford them the opportunity to compete,” Clever told Federal Times.
He added the program works to help the agency drive IT costs down while offering socioeconomic benefits, according to O’Farrell’s article.
“While there’s always room for improvement, I would say government in general, and DHS in particular, are doing a good job of ensuring that small business gets a fair shake,” Kevin Murray, president of TestPros, told the publication.
The Ambit Group teaming coordinator Brian Baker and Leader Communications President Angela Cole believe that DHS is making efforts to achieve small-business contracting goals.
