Deltek expects the total value of government solicitations for the fourth quarter of 2014 to reach at least $63 billion, almost $21 billion higher than the total value for the same period last year, the Washington Post reported Sunday.
Jennifer Sakole, a principal analyst at Deltek, writes that the mid-Atlantic region will present 450 of the anticipated 1,300 total solicitations and be worth an estimated $28 billion.
Sakole writes that the firm expects information technology to see increased activity in the region, compared to last year when the majority of opportunities were for professional services.
“One of the largest IT opportunities Deltek anticipates in the quarter is Defense Systems Integration, Design, Development, Operation and Maintenance Support, an agency-specific indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract vehicle with a ceiling value of $8 billion,” according to Sakole.
The mid-Atlantic region also has the most number of anticipated set-aside procurements and Sakole estimates opportunities dominated by IT services to be worth around e$3.7 billion.
Sakole says the U.S. Army program executive office for enterprise information systems will likely solicit up to $1 billion in enterprise resource planning services as a set-aside program for small businesses.
