IBM Helps Build Int’l Public Transport System with Fusion Analytics; Janet Ang Comments

IBM, SMRT Corporation Ltd., StarHub and the Land Transport Authority of Singapore have teamed up to develop a public transportation system using fusion analytics.

The team will apply analytic models to build the Fusion AnalyticS for public Transport Emergency Response blueprint for crowd management and information services, IBM said Monday.

Chew Hock Yong, LTA’s chief executive, said the collaboration aims to help transport operators manage public incidents by harnessing intelligence from big data.

The LTA and IBM will collaborate to integrate information from partners into farecard data while SMRT and StarHub will provide MRT station video data and telecommunications information, respectively.

“City leaders can now monitor, measure and manage a wide range of city services to predict future effects and perform “what-if” scenario analysis to proactively manage the negative impacts of an unplanned incident or special event,” said Janet Ang, managing director at IBM Singapore.
