The Chertoff Group has added three advisers with national security expertise to its team.

Who is Nathan Sales?

Sales previously served the Department of State as acting undersecretary for civilian security, democracy and human rights. He was also appointed as ambassador-at-large and coordinator for counterterrorism, serving as principal adviser to the secretary of state on international counterterrorism matters.

As part of The Chertoff Group’s advisory team, Sales will help advance missions and manage geopolitical risks.

Who is Jay Humphlett?

Humphlett will bring business transformation expertise to the group, having led high-impact strategic capture initiatives at Raytheon and Dataminr. He also held executive profit and loss positions at Raytheon, served as president for a special mission aviation firm and as CEO for an intelligence-driven global health protection provider. His career included time spent as an F-14 Tomcat radar intercept officer in the U.S. Navy.

Who is John Mulligan?

John Mulligan, former deputy director of the National Counterterrorism Center and former chief of the National Security Agency Counterterrorism, said joining the advisory team will allow him to “help clients better understand how to mitigate cyber threats and thrive in the national security business environment.”

During his tenure as a government counterterrorism official, Mulligan helped develop multiple government-wide strategic plans and operations to counter threats to the United States.

According to The Chertoff Group, the new senior advisers’ diverse expertise will further enhance the firm’s capabilities.
