General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems, or GA-EMS, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to manufacture Bullseye precision-guided strike missiles. Scott Forney, president of GA-EMS, said in a press release posted Monday that the deep-strike missiles will be built in the United States for U.S. defense organizations.
The companies announced the partnership at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Conference in Maryland.
What is Bullseye?
GA-EMS’ Bullseye missile is designed to be launched from ground, maritime and air platforms. The weapon system is equipped with built-in autonomous flight that can identify and destroy targets.
It is also modular, able to support various warhead payloads and can accommodate upgrades to meet mission requirements. Bullseye has achieved Technology Readiness Level 8 from the Department of Defense.
According to Forney, the partnership with Rafael can lower the cost of manufacturing Bullseye at scale.
“By leveraging Rafael’s extensive investment in the design, maturation and testing of a unique, modular missile, we can reduce risk and development costs and provide production-scale delivery of a highly capable, high-performance precision-guided missile at significant per-unit cost-savings,” the executive explained.
