Stored energy platforms provider EnerSys has finalized its purchase of Bren-Tronics for approximately $208 million as part of a push to broaden its footprint in the defense market.

EnerSys said Friday it will integrate the newly acquired company into its Specialty business line.

Commack, New York-based Bren-Tronics has been producing small and large format lithium batteries, charging systems and other portable power products for defense and military applications since 1973.

The company has about 280 employees across the U.S., France and the U.K. and reported approximately $100 million in 2023 sales.

“EnerSys’ combination with Bren-Tronics will strengthen our position as a critical enabler of the energy transition and supports our growth in the attractive and growing military and defense end markets,” said David Shaffer, president and CEO of EnerSys.

“Our acquisition will accelerate EnerSys’ transformation in expanding our lithium product offerings, growing revenue and profitability and advancing toward our fiscal year 2027 targets,” added Shaffer.

The all-cash transaction was first announced in May.

Reed Smith served as EnerSys’ legal counsel in the deal and global advisory firm Stout acted as financial, tax and information technology adviser to the Reading, Pennsylvania-based company.
