Viasat will offer a new connectivity service designed to provide governments and militaries worldwide with enhanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance communications for crewed and uncrewed aircraft.
Called Air-IQ, the offering will enable real-time access to intelligence with uplink data transfer speeds of up to 10 Mbps to improve situational awareness and give warfighters a decisive advantage on the battlefield, Viasat said Tuesday.
Air-IQ users will have the capability to switch from low-throughput to high-throughput connectivity and select between Ka, Ku and L band frequencies, depending on mission requirements.
The offering, which will be available in the coming months, also allows operators to manage multiple aircraft and connect with sovereign networks.
“Our consistent focus on innovation and customer needs is the driving force behind Air-IQ, offering a balance of flexibility and reliability for operations in any environment,” said Todd McDonell, president of international government at Viasat.
Air-IQ will deliver connectivity through the company’s existing satellite constellation, which will be expanded over the next four years to provide global coverage, including in the polar regions.
