As the Department of Defense moves forward with its enterprise-wide cloud effort, key trends are steering the future of cloud innovation. Executive Mosaic spoke with Oracle Senior Vice President Glen Dodson to find out more.
In an exclusive video interview, Dodson shared four market-leading cloud trends: multi-cloud, OCONUS — or outside of the contiguous United States — cloud operations, cloud at the edge and artificial intelligence/machine learning.

“When we speak about multi-cloud, I don’t mean just enabling multi-cloud. I’m talking about embracing multi-cloud. It’s not just about interconnecting and integrating clouds together — they need to be providing seamless mission capability to the department,” Dodson told Executive Mosaic.
“We’ve been working on this with Microsoft now for some time, we’re beginning to work with Amazon in this area, and I think multi-cloud is going to continue to be a big thing that we need to work on together, the government and commercial sector,” he added.
In regards to OCONUS cloud operations, Dodson said this will be a critically important area of focus going forward, especially in the context of intensifying competition and potential conflicts across the globe.
“As you take a look at the geopolitical situation around the world right now, it’s going to be absolutely essential that the next chapter of JWCC takes us to OCONUS,” revealed Dodson. “We need to move our clouds into theater, get them closer to the operations.”
