Lockheed Martin‘s rotary and mission systems business has received an $80M contract modification to produce, test and deliver equipment needed to address fiscal 2019 production requirements under the AEGIS Modernization program.
The company will supply signal processor technology, electronic equipment fluid cooler and kill assessment system and spares, the Department of Defense said Thursday. DoD added the contract includes foreign military sales to Japan and Australia.
Aegis serves as the main sea-based component of the country’s missile defense system. According to Lockheed, modernization efforts seek to extend the service life of cruiser and destroyer ships equipped with the weapon system.
Work under the modification will take place at various locations in New Jersey, Florida and New York through November 2023. The contracting activity is Naval Sea Systems Command
