James Ballard, chairman of Preferred Systems Solutions, has joined the board of directors at McLean, Va.-based information technology services provider A-TEK.
He brings more than four decades of leadership and management experience to A-TEK's board, the company said Tuesday.
Ballard joined PSS in August 2014 as president and was promoted to CEO in September 2017. He established and led Global Services & Solutions, which offered professional services to the government sector before its acquisition by PSS.
A retired U.S. Navy captain, he served in command and leadership roles at various naval shipyards, Naval Sea Systems Command and the service branch's Program Executive Office for Submarines.
A-TEK offers software and systems development, management consulting, business intelligence and big data analysis, cybersecurity, scientific computing and infrastructure support services to the federal government.
