The number of companies that won positions on the General Services Administration’s $50B Enterprise Infrastructure Services contract has dropped from 10 to nine after CenturyLink closed its acquisition of Level 3 Communications in 2017, Nextgov reported Wednesday.
David Young, senior vice president of strategic government group at CenturyLink, told the publication the company decided to consolidate some of its capabilities with Level 3’s offerings on the EIS vehicle after nearly a year of discussions with GSA.
Young said CenturyLink used Level 3’s contract as a base since the latter’s proposal has a larger client base and newer technology platforms to offer.
The report noted that CenturyLink now holds the consolidated spot on the EIS vehicle.
GSA awarded EIS in August 2017 to replace Networx as an acquisition vehicle for telecommunication services.
