Northrop Grumman and the U.S. Army recently upgraded the Joint Tactical Ground Station installation in Japan. JTAGS is a component of the U.S. early missile warning system.
During the upgrade, the facility’s software, hardware, communications, cyber defenses and human interfaces were modernized. The facility was also given access to data feeds from additional satellite-based scanners, Northrop said Tuesday.
The upgrades are part of a maintenance and enhancement contract that the U.S. government had previously awarded to Northrop Grumman, which has been the prime contractor for JTAGS since 1994.
