United Launch Alliance has agreed to become a sponsor for the Air Force Association’s StellarXplorers science, technology, engineering, and mathematics program.
The joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Boeing ULA will sponsor the dinner for the national finalists and also cover travel expenses and funding for the StellarXplorers III winners, the Air Force Association said Monday.
“We are so pleased to join StellarXplorers in helping them achieve their goal of inspiring the future generation,” said Tory Bruno, ULA president and CEO.
ULAÂ will also provide the cash rewards for the winning team members and the consolation prizes for the second and third placers of the StellarXplorers III.
The program aims to promote STEM education and career among high school students through space system design contests that cover system development and operation of spacecraft.
Other corporate program sponsors include Orbital ATK, Blue Origin, Kratos Defense, SpaceX, Analytic Graphics, the Space Foundation, Coyote Enterprises and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
